Brazilian Rodrigo Alves is mostly know as “Human Ken Doll" because of his fascination with plastic surgery. Since he was 17, he endured 58 cosmetic surgeries, including butt lifts, nose jobs, chest implants, hair implants and... artificial eight-pack surgery. Not only does that sound weird, but all that work has cost him $588,000! Unsurprisingly, Rodrigo thinks that plastic surgery shouldn't be a taboo, and that drastically changing appearance has more benefits than risks.
Rodrigo has recently shared the pictures from before the time he became the "Human Ken Doll." He looks like a normal, cute kid. However, Rodrigo claims that he was bullied at school, that kids made fun of his "wide nose," going as far as to push his face into a urinal. The pictures show how he looked before having 16 liposuction surgeries, too.
When he was a child, Rodrigo became fascinated with Disney princes and wanted to become one in real life. He claims that he was born in the wrong body, and plastic surgery is his way to fix it. And while people think that he looks unnatural, he doesn't care much. “I get a lot of attention due to my artificial looks,” Rodrigo told the media. “But I finally love myself and that is the most important thing of all.”
“People may think I am crazy,” he continued. “I am not. I have had psychological help. I was born in the wrong body.” His family had staged an intervention after they saw him after a few surgeries. Rodrigo was sent to a therapist and was diagnosed with Body Dysmorphic Disorder, a condition which gives patients a distorted perception of their physical appearance.
Rodrigo believes that he's the perfect spokesperson for people with Body Dysmorphic Disorder. He works with the Aesthetic Academy in the USA, talking about the negative perception of plastic surgery and how surgery can help people with the same disorder.
