Celine Dookhran, 19, and her 20 year old friend, were tasered, tied up with duck tape and rope, thrown into a vehicle and driven in a house that's in renovation. They were then allegedly raped and Celine had her throat cut. The prime suspect: builder Mujahid Arshid, who had perpetrated this crime as a honor killing.
Celine, an Indian teen who had dreams of being a make-up artist was murdered for daring to date an Arab Muslim.
Her body was found because a woman alerted the police from a hospital.
Arshid is charge with kidnapping, rape and murder of the 19-year-old, and the rape, kidnapping and attempted murder of her friend. His codefendant, 28 year-old Vincent Tappu, is charged with kidnapping both of the women.
Prosecutor Binita Roscoe said: “The deceased was involved in a relationship with an Arab Muslim and the family members didn’t approve of this relationship because they are Indian Muslims.”
