Man Adopts Starving Kitty, Finds Awesome Travel Companion

32-year-old Martin Klauka of Rosenheim, Germany, likely expected great things when he set out to travel on his Honda XRV 750 Africa Twin bike. But he didn't expect to find Moroccan kitten that would become his traveling companion. “We were sitting in the streets of a small town when a little malnourished cat with an injured tail approached us,” Klauka told the press. “I called to her and she instantly came over, laid down in my arms and fell asleep. Locals who had seen her before told me that her mum got hit by a car and that she, being too young and weak to fend for herself, would most likely die in the streets.”

Klauka carried the kitty for the rest of the evening and even smuggled her into his hotel room.“When I got up, I was still full of doubt, but already in love with that little rugrat, so I decided to put her on the motorbike to see how she would cope,” Klauka explained. “‘It’s definitely not the right place for a cat,’ I thought, but it was either going to be that or almost certain death on the streets.” However, Mogli - as the kitty became to be known - calmed down only after half an hour of travel.

In July 2017, Klauka quit his job. Taking Mogli with him, he set out on epic road trip along the Mediterranean Sea through Iran and into the UAE. Mogli stays hidden in the bag on the front of the bike while on the road and only sticks out her head to watch the scenery or to meow at Klauka if the road gets bumpy. In the cities, Mogli sits on his shoulders. However, she's free to roam any campsites that the duo claim as their base. “Normally she stays near the campsite when I leave to run errands or check out the surroundings, but sometimes when it’s safe and there are no cars, dogs or other cats around, she follows me,” Klauka said. “Most of the time I’m following her, though.”

“I’m happy with where I am in my life and happy to have taken her,” Klauka added, “happy to have gotten through all of this.”

For my 200th post I give you the first photo I ever took of the baby Princess! 😽❤ It was the day after I rescued her and right after her first ride on the Queen. She had just spent the first night in the warmth of my bed and cleaned herself up but was still covered with fleas and had a bad stomach from whatever she had managed to eat before 😝. I only named her after we made it home safely but already fell in love then. How could I have said no to such a cute fluffball 😥?? .
