Would You Live In the Hearst Castle?

Hearst Castle belonged to this tiny, relatively unknown, obscure and probably made up historical figure by the name of William Randolph Hearst. Also called La Casa Grande, is situated in San Simeon, California. The project was started in 1919, the year that William inherited the land from his father, and continued into the late 1940s.

The main residence, the eponymous Hearst Castle, is designed in the Mediterranean Revival style. It covers 68,500 square feet (6,360 square metres) and contains 115 rooms, - including 38 bedrooms, more than 40 bathrooms, a theatre, and a beauty salon. La Cuesta Encantada - as the whole estate is called - contains three other guest houses, with the largest one, Casa del Mar, taking up 5,350 square feet (490 square metres) and containing eight bedrooms. More than that, there are also pools, Roman baths and a zoo!

In 2014 Lady Gaga released an ARTPOP film/music video, which also included some parts filmed at Hearst Castle. Check it out!
