Ancient Egyptians predicted the Internet in that they were obsessed with cats (and their hieroglyph walls were an ancient form of Internet comment sections). It's just human nature to like cats. This is an animal who really cares about grooming, eating and sleeping, but it is also endlessly entertaining. It's a tiny, yet vicious predator that has an almost insatiable thirst for scritches and attention. Yet those needs are juxtaposed with cats' legendary independent streak, unwillingness to be trained (like dogs) and the fact that cats are second only to goats in the rate that they go feral.
Plus, the cats are super cute. In the same vein, kittens are almost unbearably cute, since they're baby cats. Combine cats and kittens and you get this post about felines and their little doppelgängers!
